Humidity

straight up...I'm not a fan.

Regardless, 'tis the season, and its coming fast. Its really not even hot here in the Shinji area, but one can already tell its going to get mighty warm, mighty fast.

With the humidity, much to my surprise, I'm already having flashbacks to last summer when I first got here. The past week, every time I got home, my apartment "smelled" the way it did the first time I walked through the door.

I use the term "smelled" loosely...as there was no strong odor, but just a musty, thick....something. Maybe its what the walls are made of, I don't know, but its back and it makes me happy. Last summer was exciting to say the least, and as my peers and I are only another month away from our first full blown summer break, I find my schedule filling up fast.

English camps and activities, baseball games, exploring new and awesome parts Japan....its all just more to look forward to. So in anticipation of the these upcoming sweaty months I give you the.....

Top 10 Things I Will Completely Rock This Summer

10. Not letting the dirty dishes pile up for more than 2 days
9. Planting, growing and maintaining an herb garden
8. Hike up and around Mt. Daisen at least 3 times
7. Learn at least 1 song on the guitar I bought 7 months ago
6. Make kids smile randomly
5. Visit and dominate TDL (Tokyo Disneyland)
4. Invest in a good road bike and explore the hills with my buddy Chris
3. Pick an obtainable and realistic Japanese language goal to work on
2. See 3 more baseball games before the next school term starts
and....
1. Disappear, for one week, to explore something completely new

On a different note, its been really interesting as of late because I find that I've become very much comfortable with my surroundings here in this very foreign country. My understanding of the language is still far from anything to brag about, but my understanding of "stuff" is catching me off guard.

This experience is incredible. I absolutely signed up for this job looking for a challenge...and I sure as hell found it. In more ways than I imagined.

TDL? Come on. Number five? Take stock and find out where your life is going.

Ken is wrong. Wrong, I say! I think that if you can't enjoy Disneyland then you should take stock of your life. It's far to short to be too cool for Disneyland. Rock it Big Brother. I wish I could go with you.

I'm glad you're having a rockin' time in Japan. I can't wait to hear about your week-long disappearance. I'm headed up to Denali in a week - I can't wait!! Miss you!
